What We Do

The Schedule

Week 1

โžก๏ธ In week one you’ll be starting off the course with an ice breaker with the rest of your cohort, learning about each other and introducing yourself to your lecturer. ๐Ÿ”Ž Next your lecturer will perform a portfolio review, pointing out your strengths and weaknesses and your next steps to improve. ๐Ÿ“Ž You’ll then be given a brief pertaining to your individual skill level and weaknesses. This could be anatomy sculpts if you’re a character artist, or it could be a small level if you’re an environment artist. ๐Ÿค Finally, you’ll meet your mentor, talk about the task and start your idea generation.

Week 2

๐ŸŽจWeek two begins with going over the current ideation process, looking at what you’ve created in the last week and offering help to those that need a push with expert tips on creating concepts and gathering references. ๐Ÿ“„ Next we have worked with recruiters to create a valuable CV workshop which involves a small task and tips and tricks which should help you create a perfect version for your CV. ๐Ÿ’พ Finally, based on your specialism you’ll get a workshop for something the majority of your cohort are struggling with. For character artists this could be a groom workshop, and for environment artists this could be a foliage workshop.

Week 3

๐ŸŸข In week three you’ll be presenting your blockouts and relating them to the industry. At this point you may get feedback with paintovers during the week. ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Then you’ll be getting a masterclass on networking, how to create relationships with people within the industry and your peers, and how to use those connections to your advantage. ๐Ÿ‹๏ธ Finally, you’ll be going over your plan to get your project completed, and you’ll receive advice and guidance on this from both the lecturers and mentors.

Week 4

๐Ÿค During week four, you’ll participate in a mock interview with someone from the games industry, this is to improve your skills when speaking to potential employers so treat this as a real interview. โœจ You’ll get some feedback here based on how you did during the interview, from there we can tell you how to improve and what you did well.

Week 5

๐ŸŸข Week 5 commences with a final review of your work before the presentations, this is the stage for final touches and advanced tips such as lighting and compositing. ๐Ÿ“Š Then a presentation workshop will take you through the steps to creating a brilliant portofolio submission with our BaCoN set-up. ๐Ÿ“„ Finally, our final CV workshop session to follow up on week two’s task and final tips and tricks.

Week 6

๐Ÿ In our last week we’ll have you presenting your project where it’s at, and giving you in depth feedback on where you succeeded and the areas where you can still improve.
